February 2009 and counting
Welcome Back! Hopefully everyone out there is working....in a job or for themselves. When you are downsized, fired, let go or whatever term is used, get going doing something for yourself. Absolutely file for unemployment and send out the resumes immediately, but continue to look at other options in the world of work. Online work has been around for more than a decade and is becoming more lucrative daily. Start doing searches and find what you can do and charge to do. If you are busy with doing, you won't be as worried about what is not happening in society. Let's all pray that everyone will find what they need to not just survive, but thrive this year! I know it looks bleak, but we do have new faces working on new opportunities. So keep up the positive energy and renew it every day. I wish the best to you all.:)

Happy 2009!
To a healthy, happy new year for everyone. I do hope you have all experienced a wonderful beginning to the new year and made plans to keep for self-improvement. The more we all make these improvements, the more we contribute to improving the world at large. My plans include improving my financial status; my physical status; the health and happiness of my family, although they have to contribute to this one. As usual, I plan to throw myself 110% into whatever projects I have. I am publishing a new book; working on a new grant and continuing my journey to improve my soul. Here's to all of you doing the same and sharing it with those you love. Don't worry if they do not understand at first. Just keep plugging away. Small steps lead to great strides. H'oppono (sp?) states it best: I love you, I'm sorry, Forgive me, Thank you!

Holiday Greetings!
Hope everyone out there is enjoying this Holiday season. Whatever your religion, celebrate with good cheer and family and friends. We all need as much support as we can find these days with the unemployment rate rising and the economy tanking...we need to look to the important things in our lives, people. Find the people who make you happy, make your joy and share happiness with them today and everyday. Time now to reflect on the past year or years and make changes in your lives that count. Changes that will serve you in the most important ways. This is not about money, or work, it is about people and sharing and caring. We all seem to get that during the Christmas holiday, but forget or lose the idea during the rest of the year. Hopefully we can all spend a little time reflecting on what changes we need to make. Happy Holidays! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Monday mornings....
So here I am on another Monday morning drinking coffee and typing away! Since I seem to have the flu and or strep throat today....it is a good thing I am not going anywhere to spread this illness. Feeling ok considering and looking forward to the upcoming holiday 'season'. We've already had some sprinkling of snow and soon will have 'wind chill' updates to deal with! I know how hard it can be to make the jump to another job, so making a leap to owning your own business is even more frightening to many. Consider the pros and cons of the decision and how it will effect you personally as well as your family or those close to you. Missing co-workers is always a consideration if you have formed close relationships with them. That can be the hard part of moving, beyond the fear of failure, loss of income etc. But those are the thoughts and feelings that keep many from making a move that may in fact change their lives in the most positive way ever. They will have freedom and money if they work at it. You can also have friendships, relationships, just in a different fashion. Maybe online, on telephone and in travel to see the people you align yourself with in the new postion of business owner. Just some thoughts for the day. Have a wonderful one, no matter what you do today!

Welcome and first blog!

Welcome! To all who read this post, first time post, of the Working Moms Freedom. I personally have been a working mom for 31 years, since the birth of my first of four children. I have always felt the need to work, outside the home, and desired more recently the ability to also work from home. I have watched, listened and learned over the years how guilty many of us feel in leaving our children in the hands of a caretaker, be it a relative or an outside source of daycare. I have felt it myself and wondered if this was a selfish pursuit. I have read and studied and listened to the arguments of Mom being at home versus Mom going outside the home to work. I have heard heated debate, mostly people who are defending their own choices, about the benefits of their children learning from many others and not just from their moms and dads at home; of others who angrily describe the horrors of daycare and the harm it has created in children feeling a lack of attachment to their parents and family of origin. My conclusion, watching my own children, is that we are all individuals, we all make different choices, and some are mistakes, some not but it appears that whether mom is home or out working, the real key is the love and attention when she and other members of the family are with their children. If the feeling is guilt and Mom is trying to make up for lost time, chances are she doesn't feel good and conveys this to her children. Some anxiety results in the children each time Mom is gone, thus reinforcing her guilt and need to be home. So my solution is to stay home if your guilt is that intense. These days, finding work from home is not the difficulty it once was. For those Moms able to resolve the feelings (me) and go outside the home to work, bravo and keep up the good work! But you may also be thinking working from home is the answer these days with costs going up and gas out of sight. So any and all who read this and want to add posts, please do. I welcome the addition to anything I post. I welcome any recommendations for working Moms for working at home, from home, outside home etc. I will be making my own recommendations for all as well. Hopefully, wherever you are today, you are enjoying your life and family. I know I am. :) Diane
